Q: What is your role and what will it involve?
I’ve joined as Head of Paid Media, which means I lead the paid side of things across Arkyard’s client accounts. Day to day that covers strategy, campaign direction, and reporting across Google Ads, Microsoft Ads, Meta, YouTube, and Google Grants.
A big part of the role is working closely with Fynn and Maddie to keep the paid media engine running well, and helping build out smarter, AI-assisted ways of working so the team spends less time on the repetitive stuff and more on the thinking that moves the needle for clients.
Q: What has been your career to date? Where have you worked previously?
I’ve spent more than ten years in digital marketing, working across all the major paid platforms and specialising in the charity, environmental, and purpose-driven space. I’ve worked with all manner of amazing charities from RSPB, Disasters Emergency Committee and Marine Conservation Society; both in-house and in senior roles for agencies like Propellernet and Torchbox.
Q: What attracted you to join Arkyard?
Two things, mainly. The first is the chance to work with charities. After years in this industry, I’ve found the work I care about most is the kind that helps organisations doing something good in the world, and Arkyard’s focus on the charity and purpose-driven sector fits that neatly. There’s a real satisfaction in putting solid paid media thinking behind causes that matter rather than just chasing another sale.
The second reason is Harrison. We worked together in a previous role, and I saw first-hand how he thinks and operates, so when the opportunity came up to team up again I didn’t need much convincing. Knowing you’ll get on well with the person leading the agency counts for a lot.
Q: What are you most looking forward to about working here?
Building things that make the team’s life easier. I’m deep into developing AI-integrated workflows and reporting tools at the moment, and getting those to a point where they save the team real hours each week is the part I’m most excited about. A huge part of this is making sure it’s a process that makes sense and helps our clients rather than just AI for AIs sake.
Beyond the tooling, it’s the clients. Getting to do sharp paid media work for organisations whose mission matters is a good reason to turn the laptop on in the morning.
Q: What skill or goal are you hoping to achieve in your first year?
We have just launched a Paid Media Training program so my number 1 focus is ensuring that goes down well and we strengthen our already pretty strong Paid Media team. On top of that, it’ll be taking my experience from previous roles and using that to shape how we deliver paid media for our clients. I’m also hoping to learn a lot from the team here, a smart bunch!
Q: What is your favourite digital tool, app or website?
Right now it’s Claude. It’s unlocked a lot of potential for our agency and we’ve been able to create some great processes from it. I’ve never had a background in code, being a words-guy, but Claude’s unlocked the ability for me to write in code to create Google Ads scripts, automated processes and all sorts of other cool tools for our clients.
Q: Which charity do you admire the most and why?
I’ve been watching the exciting work the RSPB comms team have been doing for a while. Charities can be cautious, for good reason, but the work the RSPB is doing is showcasing what is possible if you inject bravery into your digital marketing strategy. I think we can all learn a lot from them.
