Helping Church Army prepare for website reporting

Church Army wanted to make sure data is at the heart of their decision-making and ensure their reports were clear, actionable, and suited to their team’s needs.

The Brief

With a new team in place, Church Army aimed to develop a deeper connection with their data, using it to guide decisions across all channels.

They needed support in building a reliable, purposeful reporting structure to track their website performance and measure the impact of their actions.

“How do we best structure and report on our website performance that works for us internally?”

The Approach

1. Team Immersion and Skills Gap Analysis

We started by embedding ourselves with the Church Army team to understand their existing skills and any gaps. This helped us identify how we could best support them, ensuring we felt like a natural extension of their team.

This was key for Church Army as they wanted to ensure that there’s expertise in house whilst also working closely with an agency partner.

2. Establishing a User led Measurement Framework

Without foundations, wrong decisions will be made, which means reporting starts with data. We ensured data was accurate and reliable by creating a measurement framework aligned with their goals and user behaviour. This user-led approach meant the data could be trusted and was ready to drive actionable insights.

3. Defining the purpose of the report and how it will be used

We worked with Church Army to understand who would be using the reports, how often they’d be needed, and what decisions they’d inform. This is key for any reporting, we’ve seen it first-hand where great reports are neglected and not used due to the report not matching to the reader

The Results

We now provide Church Army with a monthly report bespoke to the key stakeholders we’re delivering to whilst also working closely with the team in rolling out optimisation actions.

This helps put in place a strong foundation for the Church Army team to build on and move towards a better digital maturity.
